Play With Honor Stories

Play with HONOUR by Autaum Hilyer

My name is Autaum Hilyer. I am a part of the Delta Softball Academy (Canada) as well as my club team Heat ‘01.

Everyday I learn that the game I play is much bigger than me or anything I could imagine. When we start playing a sport in most cases it is our parents decision since we start at such a young age. As we get older the sports our parents choose for us becomes a part of our life and in most cases a part of us.

What PWH means to me by Abby Mulvey

I Play With Honor for the people who fought and who are fighting for us to have our freedom today! I Play With Honor for my 94-year-old great-grandfather, “Grampy”, Bernard Thornton Peters who was a World War II pilot. His two older brothers were drafted into WW II but he wasn’t. He asked to join the war efforts because he wanted to join his brothers in their fight for our freedom. He was only 20-years-old when he entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in March,1943 and never looked back.

I Play with Honor for the game of softball that not only brings joy to millions of young girls, but also to myself.

I Play with Honor for my mom and dad, who have both been my anchor, and have pushed me to reach for the stars and beyond.

I Play with Honor for my siblings who follow right behind me, and bring joy into my life.

I Play with Honor for all of the people out there in our world who fight for what they believe in, and fight for what’s right.  Continue reading…

Son of a Soldier

I am the son of a soldier who never asked to be thanked. My Father never told us that because our country needed his services at the young age of 18, that he missed opportunities to attend college on athletic scholarships. He did however ask that I do one one thing for him, and that was to please don’t forget that his brother gave his life as a soldier fighting in the same war for what they both believed in… freedom.
